About Formic Pro

Formic Pro (previously known as MAQS+) is a highly effective, organically certified by BioGro NZ treatment for the control of Varroa mites (Varroa destructor) in honeybee colonies (Apis mellifera). Designed with beekeepers in mind, Formic Pro delivers a fast, single-application treatment that works within just 7 days.

Formic pro uses formic acid polysaccharide gel strips wrapped in a vapour-releasing wick, Formic Pro penetrates the brood cap, causing mortality and infertility in Varroa mites across all life stages. This means it targets both adult mites on bees and those reproducing beneath the brood cap which offers comprehensive control.

The innovative strip is built with BASF’s biodegradable ecoflex® film, ensuring an environmentally conscious solution that beekeepers can trust. The bees themselves regulate vapour release, supporting a natural and effective treatment cycle. After use, strips can remain in the hive, with any residue easily scraped away.

Usage Notes

• Apply strips in the brood rearing zone of the hive.

• Ambient temperatures should range between 10°C – 29.5°C during treatment.
