The Paradise Honey Nuc & Mate beehive has an entrance at each end of the hive bottom.  When the beehive is used in a single colony, 6 frame configuration, an entrance closer is used to close one of the two entrances.  The second entrance can be left fully open or, the entrance closer/reducer can be used to reduce the height of the entrance opening. This makes it easier for the colony to defend against robber bees, wasps and ants.

When the Nuc & Mate is used in a twin colony configuration using the dividing board, each colony uses one of the entrances at the end of the hive bottom. Two entrances closers are required for each nuc & mate beehive.
